What Is The Function Of A Car Spark Plug?

Mar 24, 2023

The function of the spark plug is to ignite. The electrode of the spark plug generates a high voltage voltage to form an electric spark, ignites the mixed gas in the cylinder of the engine, and explodes and burns, thereby pushing the piston to move, the engine to run, and the car to drive. : The following is an introduction about spark plugs:

1. The spark plug is composed of a wire nut, a central electrode, a ground electrode, a metal shell and an insulator.

2. The working principle of the spark plug: the ground electrode of the spark plug is connected to the metal shell, and is connected to the engine block through the cylinder head thread. The insulator mainly plays the role of isolating the metal shell and the central electrode. The wire nut is the part of the spark plug that is in contact with the high-voltage coil. After the current passes through the wire nut and the central electrode, it breaks down the medium between the central electrode and the ground electrode to generate sparks, thereby igniting the mixture in the cylinder.

3. The ignition system needs to provide high voltage to the spark plug to ignite the mixture at regular intervals every time the engine does work, form sparks and generate explosions to provide the energy required for engine power output, so as to maintain the normal operation of the engine.
